Inviting hearts to Deen in the Valley of a Thousand Hills

About the Centre

Addressing the challenge of Dawah since around 1980

Inchanga Islamic Centre is an Islamic Dawah centre situated midway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg. Our core work is to invite people towards Deen, and to strengthen this we have established satellite madrassahs within a 25 km radius of the centre.

Alhamdulillah, through the mercy of Allah Ta'ala and the generosity of our donors, we have built a hall, a dormitory, an office and accommodation for an Aalim. In 2007 we established Inchanga Muslim School to empower our students holistically.

  • A home for over 35 orphans at the centre
  • Over 5 000 people have received the Deen through our Dawah programme
  • Sunday classes empowering new Muslims to be independent in their Deen

A message from the Ameer

Nothing is more beneficial than serving fellow human beings

"A generous man is near to the blessings of Allah, and the hearts of the people; while the avaricious man is away from the blessings of Allah and the hearts of the people, but near to the fire of Hell."— Tirmizi

Since inception we have, Alhamdulillah, managed to establish a base in Deen for the locality, with the help of Allah Ta'ala. We wish to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all our donors and well-wishers for their support, both financially and through volunteering their time.

My appeal to our brothers and sisters is to please come in and get involved in our programmes. A lot has yet to be done in the indigenous community of the Valley of a Thousand Hills. Counselling and emotional support are often of critical importance to the wellbeing of the individual and the family as a whole.

Dawah, in order to be meaningful, must have a practical application to the individual's life, besides fulfilling his spiritual and emotional needs.

— The Ameer, Inchanga Islamic Centre
